These Spicy Green Beans are a fantastic starter or side dish, not only for an Indian banquet but for any main meal whether a full roast dinner or a lighter lunch, They are perfect for any diet type, Keto, Low fat, Vegetarian or Vegan.
We have added the ingredients and recipe for you below however feel free to alter any of the ingredients to suit your dietary needs.
1 lb fresh green beans
4 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp whole black mustard seeds (Allergen)
4 cloves finely chopped garlic
1/2 – 1 dried, chopped red chili.
1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar, black pepper.
Trim the beans and cut them into 1-inch lengths. Blanch them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes or until they are just tender. Drain immediately in a colander and rinse under cold, running water. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan, add the mustard seeds and garlic. stir until they are light brown. Add in the chopped red chili and stir for a few seconds. Put in the green beans, salt, and sugar and stir to mix and cook the beans for approximately 8 mins. Add the black pepper and serve with butter (optional).
