Other uses for Spices

There are many other uses for spices other than flavour! Along with their beautiful aroma and colour there are some medicinal benefits to them too!

Mouthwash, toothpaste, potpourri, colourant, toothache and coughs! that is more than you would imagine your spice collection to contain but they do! Almost magical!

Here are some of the other uses for spices:

#StarAnise is used in some cough medicine and also added to some pet foods. A section of the star can be sucked as a breath freshener. They are also very decorative and used in potpourri especially around Christmas time

Cloves! Known as as an antiseptic. Oil of cloves is used in mouthwash, toothpaste and used as a compact for toothache. Great for stomach health including flatulence.

Turmeric! It can definitely be used as a dye! Often used as a colourant in mustard and cheese. Boiled in milk this should cure a cold.

#Cardamom contain an oil that is used in perfume. They are a known aphrodisiac and a stimulant. Good for digestion and chewed as a breath freshener.

#Fennel has lots of uses! Can help stop hiccups – random! Another one for toothache and coughs. The oil can be used in perfume and soap
